The Kaiser Canyon Fire is an active wildfire in Okanogan County, Washington, about 1 mile south of Nespelem. The fire was first dispatched on July 16 and is reported at about 89,259 acres.
The most recent mapped perimeter, recorded early on July 24, shows the fire at 3 percent contained. The fire remains active.
Evacuation notices are in place in parts of Okanogan County and on the Colville Reservation. Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations remain in effect for some areas, including the Kartar Road and Coyote Creek Road area. Level 2 “Be Ready” notices are also in effect for nearby areas, including areas affected by fire burning north and east of Kartar toward Summit Lake Road and Highway 155. Some areas have been reduced from Level 3 to Level 2.
State Route 155 is closed, including at milepost 61. Residents in affected areas should continue to follow local evacuation instructions and road closure information.
