The hard work completed earlier in the incident helped firefighters keep the fire within its existing perimeter yesterday despite Red Flag conditions and strong afternoon winds. Crews strengthened containment lines, extinguished hotspots, and continued structure protection efforts throughout the day. Overnight, firefighters patrolled the fire perimeter and extinguished remaining hotspots to help secure yesterday's progress.

Today, firefighters will build on that work by strengthening containment lines, locating and extinguishing remaining heat, and increasing mop-up around structures and other priority areas. On the north side of the fire, crews will patrol around structures, monitor the fire edge along the canal, and continue mop-up in areas where heat remains. On the east side, crews will patrol from the fire origin toward Salmon Creek Road, continue mop-up in the cottonwood area near Salmon Creek, and begin gridding to locate remaining heat.

Firefighters will also identify and mitigate hazard trees along Salmon Creek Road. On the west side, firefighters will work to keep the fire within existing containment lines between the fire origin, Dry Coulee Road, and dozer lines extending north toward Salmon Creek. Crews will strengthen containment lines and mop up around structures to reduce impacts to the communities of Okanogan and Omak.

Evacuations and Road Closures: Road closures remain in place in portions of the fire area. If you must travel through the area, please slow down and use caution. Firefighters and heavy equipment may be working along roadways, and your patience helps keep everyone safe.

Yesterday, crews focused on connecting, strengthening, and improving fireline constructed during initial attack while continuing structure protection efforts. Today, firefighters will continue securing the fire’s edge, mopping up around structures, and patrolling for heat along the perimeter. On the east side of the fire, crews are working to secure fireline from the fire origin toward Salmon Creek Road.

Firefighters will continue patrols around structures and mop up along the perimeter. On the north side, crews are working to keep the fire within its current footprint. Firefighters will patrol for hotspots, mop up near structures, and use helicopters as available to cool timbered areas near the head of the fire.

Crews will also continue patrol and cold trailing along the northeast portion of the fire near the canal. On the west side, crews are working to hold the fire within existing containment lines from the fire origin northwest toward Dry Coulee Road. Firefighters will continue efforts to keep the fire east of Dry Coulee Road and connected dozer lines running north toward Salmon Creek Road.

Crews will also continue structure protection and mop up along containment lines and around structures to reduce impacts to nearby communities. Okanogan County Sheriff Office · After Thursday’s B&O Rd fire we grieve for residents that lost their homes or suffered property damage. We are thankful the tremendous effort, coordination and teamwork demonstrated by Fire District 3, the many fire districts from across Okanogan, Douglas and Chelan counties, state mobilization resources and several local law enforcement agencies (OCSO, OMPD, CCT, BRPD, WSP, WDFW, County Public Works) that responded to the fire. Law enforcement working with Fire Command and Emergency Management to set evacuation areas and deliver evacuation notices, set road closures trying to clear space for Fire Resources to work freely.

Looky-loos. ☹ If you have driven toward the fire and are near fire trucks, law enforcement, ambulances and PUD trucks you are too close, you are in the way, you are negatively impacting efforts to suppress the fire, get residents to safety, manage electrical power infrastructure damage. While law enforcement was working to evacuate residents as quickly and safely as possible, we also have to be mindful that emergencies can create opportunities for criminal activity.

Unfortunately, there are individuals who will enter and remain in evacuated areas to take advantage of homes and property left behind. If you want to watch, we get it, but be part of the team and consider those trying to work the fire and those with property under threat from the fire. Be a good neighbor and find a vantage point out of the way, out of danger and leave the area when directed to do so.

Okanogan County Emergency Management · UPDATE: B and O FIRE, Okanogan, WA. Reduce Evacuation Level Issued: 07-10-2026 at 10:26 AM Overnight, the fire remained within its existing footprint. The fire continues to have several interior hot spots that crews will be working to extinguish.

Okanogan County PUD worked through the night to restore power. If you are still without power, contact Okanogan County PUD at 509-422-3310. Three primary residences have been confirmed destroyed.

Damage assessments are ongoing. Some road closures have been lifted, while others remain in effect. All evacuation areas have been reduced to Level 2.

Please refer to the Evacuation Map for current evacuation areas and road closures. The American Red Cross Evacuation Center in Omak is now closed. If you housed animals at the fairgrounds, you are responsible for their care.

Please stay in contact with fairgrounds staff at 509-422-1621. Although evacuation levels have been reduced, several areas of the fire remain active. Stay clear of the fire area and respect all road closures.

Be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to take action if conditions change. Fire crews will be on the fire throughout the night. All evacuation levels will remain in place over night and will be assets tomorrow. Several roads remain CLOSED, see Incident MAP.

Respect CLOSURES and remember if you are stopped on the road or even a little bit on the roadway, it may cause issues with emergency vehicles working the fire, it's not worth the few likes you will get for your photo. There are homes and outbuildings that were lost, we do not have good assessment at this time. If you are using the Fairgrounds to shelter your animal, remember it is your responsibility to care for it.
